Umpire
An Umpire makes sure games are played fairly, safely, and in line with the rules and regulations. Umpires help the game flow, manage players’ behaviour, and support an enjoyable experience for everyone involved
Umpire Manager
The Umpire Manager oversees the allocation, welfare, and progression of umpires at events. This role ensures matches are appropriately officiated and that umpires are supported and developed
Umpire Coach
An Umpire Coach supports the development and performance of umpires through observation, feedback, mentoring, and structured development planning
Umpire Assessor
An Umpire Assessor is responsible for evaluating the performance of umpires during matches to support consistency, development, and high officiating standards
Umpire Developer
An Umpire Developer is responsible for the strategic planning, coordination, and delivery of umpire education and development programmes
Tournament Director
A Tournament Director, also referred to as a Technical Delegate, oversees the delivery of a tournament or competition and manages technical (indoor hockey) issues across the event
Technical Officer
A Technical Officer helps matches run smoothly, fairly, and on time. They work off the field to support umpires, teams, and organisers
Timekeeper
A Timekeeper is responsible for keeping accurate match time by starting and stopping the clock during play
Scorekeeper
A Scorekeeper records the score and key match events, such as goals, cards and substitutions
Match Manager
A Match Manager looks after the organisation of an individual match, and may combine multiple Technical Official roles
Event Director
An Event Director is responsible for planning, organising, and delivering an event. They make sure everything runs smoothly, safely, and on schedule, creating a positive experience for players, officials, volunteers, and spectators
Event Manager
The Event Manager supports the Event Director by managing the day-to-day organisation of the event. If an event has multiple Competitions, this may be referred to as Tournament Manager
Discipline Manager
The Discipline Manager is responsible for managing disciplinary matters during an event or competition. They ensure that incidents are handled fairly, consistently, and in line with the rules, helping to maintain respect, safety, and good behaviour
Safeguarding Manager
The Safeguarding Manager is responsible for helping everyone feel safe and supported during an event or competition. They make sure safeguarding policies are followed and act as a trusted point of contact for any concerns
Medical Manager
The Medical Manager is responsible for planning and overseeing medical care at an event or competition. They help ensure players, officials, and volunteers receive quick and appropriate medical support if needed
