Bigger games, more action and an unforgettable Bank Holiday weekend!

Get ready for another thrilling Bank Holiday showdown as the 2026 Indoor Hockey UK Derby Grand Slam returns this May! With teams travelling from across the country, this flagship event promises three days of fast-paced indoor hockey, fierce competition, and a fantastic atmosphere both on and off the court.

Whether you’re competing for silverware, supporting your club, or discovering indoor hockey for the first time, Derby is the place to be this May.

Event Dates & Overview

The 2026 Derby Grand Slam will take place from Saturday 23 May to Monday 25 May 2026, once again aligning perfectly with the May Bank Holiday and school half term — ideal for a full weekend of hockey and family-friendly travel.

All age groups offered at Indoor Hockey UK events will return for 2026, following England Hockey Club age brackets (from 1 September). After strong feedback and record participation in recent seasons, several age groups will benefit from more games and longer match formats this year.

All teams should arrive at the venue in time for the warmup session as this is the only time available to them for on pitch warm up and should stay until the completion of the Presentations.

Team sign in opens 60 minutes before the games start time stated for each age group and a team representative, ideally the manger or coach, must ensure they have signed in with the event command table at least 20 minutes before games start.

The match schedules for each age group will be available via the event hub. All timings are subject to change depending on the number of entries received but we will always look to try and fit the competitions within the published times above.

Match Format Updates for 2026

We're always trying to maximise pitch time and ensure all teams get as much indoor hockey activity as possible; whilst also taking into account the welfare and safety of the players by making sure they don't get too much!

The Under 10 & Under 12's will stay as previous years, with 10 minute one way games - but they will see an increase in the number of games they get to play (as long as enough teams enter).

The Under 14, Under 16, Under 18 and adults will all play 10 minute each way games. This is a change for the Under 14's and followed great feedback from the Championships.

The Under 12's and Under 14's will also have split sessions - so teams won't be hanging around for as long. The other age groups will still play interchanging between boys and girls to help avoid back to back, but as these have fewer teams there will still be less waiting around.

These changes are all based on feedback from previous events and it should mean everyone will receive significant pitch time across the weekend, ensuring a competitive but enjoyable experience for every squad.

Venue

The event will once again be hosted at the outstanding Derby Arena, located at Pride Park, Royal Way, Derby, DE24 8JB. Widely regarded as a home of indoor hockey in the UK, Derby Arena continues to provide a first-class playing and spectator experience, making it a firm favourite among players and supporters alike.

The small increase in the entry fee reflects longer match formats and expanded playing opportunities while ensuring the event remains fully self-funded and high quality.

Officials & Volunteers

We will once again be recruiting umpires, officials, and workf orce volunteers to support the event. Returning officials will be able to submit availability and new officials can register now to be added to the mailing list to sign up. More details on recruitment will be shared through our website and social media channels throughout March.

Be Part of the Action – Volunteer at the 2026 WMH Indoor World Cup!

Plans are well underway for the 2026 WMH Indoor World Cup, and we have officially opened volunteer registrations, inviting members of the community to play a vital role in delivering one of the world’s premier indoor hockey events.

The tournament will bring together elite players, officials, and supporters from across the globe, showcasing high-energy competition and international camaraderie. Volunteers will be at the heart of the event, supporting operations both on and off the court and helping ensure a world-class experience for athletes and spectators alike.

A wide range of volunteer roles will be available, including event operations, team liaison, venue support, accreditation, and spectator services. No prior experience is required, with training and support provided ahead of the tournament. Volunteering is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience at an international sporting event while becoming part of a passionate and welcoming team.

Volunteers are essential to the success of the WMH Indoor World Cup brining energy, commitment, and pride to the event! We're excited to welcome people from all backgrounds to be part of this global celebration of indoor hockey. In addition to contributing to the success of the tournament, volunteers will enjoy behind-the-scenes access, the chance to meet people from around the world, and the opportunity to create lasting memories as part of a historic sporting event.

Fast-paced action on show at East Area Sixes

The East Men’s and Women’s Area Sixes took place on Saturday 13 December 2025 at Aldenham School Sports Centre and Culford School Sports Centre respectively, with teams competing not only for area honours but for the opportunity to represent the East Area at England Hockey's Super 6s Division 2 in January.

Men’s Sixes – St Albans secure qualification after intense contest

The men’s competition at Aldenham featured a demanding round-robin format, with seven teams playing across a full day of high-intensity indoor hockey. With only one qualification place available for the National Super 6s, margins were fine throughout and consistency proved crucial.

St Albans set the early pace, opening the tournament in emphatic fashion with a 6–0 win over Saffron Walden, before following up with a comprehensive 5–0 victory against Old Loughtonians. Their sharp attacking play and disciplined structure made them immediate contenders for the qualification place, and they added further wins against Harleston Magpies (2–0) and held Cambridge City to a 2–2 draw.

Ipswich also impressed, combining pace and physicality to secure strong results across the day. They opened with a 4–1 victory over Harleston Magpies and went on to defeat Cambridge City (3–2), St Albans (4–0) and Saffron Walden (5–0), conceding very few chances in the process. Cambridge City themselves produced several eye-catching performances, including a dominant 6–1 win over Saffron Walden and a 5–0 victory against Old Loughtonians. However, despite their strong on-pitch performances, Ipswich and Cambridge City were ineligible to qualify for the National Super 6s, meaning the qualification battle remained open among the remaining sides.

Chelmsford were held to a draw by Old Loughtonians early on but responded well, recording important victories against Cambridge City (3–0), Saffron Walden (3–0) and Harleston Magpies (1–0). A hard-fought draw against Ipswich further strengthened their position.

With qualification still undecided heading into the closing stages, the men’s competition built to a tense finale. Results throughout the day meant that the outcome hinged on the final match of the tournament , with both St Albans and Chelmsford looking to secure top spot among the eligible sides. St Albans delivered a composed and disciplined performance, claiming a 3–0 victory to confirm their qualification place. The result underlined the fine margins of the competition, with the East Area men’s representative not decided until the very last whistle of the day.

Women's Sixes: Cambridge University claim title and qualification

The women’s competition at Culford School Sports Centre followed a round-robin format before bronze and gold medal matches, with the top two sides earning the right to contest the final.

Cambridge University and Ipswich emerged early as the strongest teams. Their opening encounter ended goalless, but Cambridge University responded well, edging past Chelmsford (1–0) and St Albans (1–0) in tightly contested matches before producing a commanding 5–1 victory over Crostyx to finish top of the standings.

Ipswich enjoyed a productive round robin of their own, recording convincing wins against Crostyx (4–1), Chelmsford (2–0) and St Albans (2–0) to secure second place and a spot in the final.

Chelmsford and St Albans met in the bronze medal match following competitive round-robin campaigns. The play-off proved to be one of the most entertaining matches of the day, with both sides trading goals in an end-to-end contest that finished 4–4.

The women’s final proved a fitting conclusion to the day, bringing together the two strongest sides from the round-robin phase. Having drawn 0–0 earlier in the tournament, Cambridge University and Ipswich entered the gold medal match evenly matched, but it was Cambridge who rose to the occasion. Showing composure in possession and clinical finishing in key moments, they gradually pulled clear as the match wore on, eventually securing a 5–2 victory. The result not only crowned them East Area champions but also underlined their ability to perform under pressure, earning them the right to represent the area at the National Super 6s in January.

East Area represented nationally

With St Albans and Cambridge University now confirmed as the East Area’s men’s and women’s representatives, attention turns to January’s National Super 6s, where both teams will test themselves against the leading indoor sides from across England.

The East Area Indoor Sixes once again showcased the depth and quality of indoor hockey across the region, with competitive matches throughout the day and qualification decided only through sustained performance across the full programme.

Reading and Trojans Shine in Goal-Packed South Central Area Sixes Showcase

The 2025 South Central Area Sixes delivered a superb day of junior indoor hockey at King Edward VI School, Southampton, on Sunday 7 December. With Under 16 Boys and Girls teams from across the South Central area competing in fast-paced round-robin tournaments, the event showcased outstanding skill, scoring power, and rising talent across both competitions.

Girls Competition: Reading dominate with attacking masterclass

The Under 16 Girls section produced a high-scoring display across six matches, with Reading emerging as the standout side of the entire day. They opened their campaign with a commanding 7–1 win over Trojans, combining tight pressing with clinical finishing.

Winchester got off to a strong start with a 3–1 victory over Marlow, but the tone of the tournament shifted once more when Reading delivered back-to-back goal-laden performances, defeating Marlow 11–0 and Winchester 11–1. Their movement, accuracy, and composure created clear daylight in the results table between them and the chasing pack.

Trojans recovered from their opening defeat with an impressive 6–1 win over Winchester and followed it up with an 8–0 victory over Marlow to secure second place.

Despite battling hard, Marlow were unable to turn their chances into results, but their determination remained unquestioned throughout.

Final impressions: Reading completed the event unbeaten, scoring a remarkable 29 goals across just three matches. Trojans showed character in their comeback performances, while Winchester and Marlow added competitive energy to a highly entertaining tournament.

Boys Competition: Trojans edge a fiercely contested round robin

The three-team Boys competition was equally thrilling, featuring end-to-end play and a total of 33 goals across three matches.

Trojans opened the tournament with a powerful 7–3 win over Winchester, leveraging their speed and sharp finishing to establish early control. Their form continued in a tightly fought contest against Reading, where Trojans’ clinical edge secured a 6–4 victory.

Reading entered their final match determined to finish strongly — and they did so emphatically. A 9–4 win over Winchester showcased their attacking flair and ensured they finished with a positive goal difference and a strong statement performance.

Winchester, despite finishing without a win, contributed significantly to the open, attacking nature of the competition and demonstrated promise in the final third.

Final impressions: Trojans’ consistency across both matches secured them the top spot, with Reading finishing second thanks to a superb final outing. All three sides delivered fast, exciting hockey that kept spectators engaged throughout.

A celebration of regional talent

Across both competitions, the South Central Area Sixes highlighted the quality and depth of junior indoor hockey within the region. With a combined total of over 70 goals scored in a single day, the event offered a strong platform for young players to showcase their ability in a high-tempo environment.

Reading’s Girls squad and the Boys’ Trojans team stood out as the most dominant performers, but every team contributed to a memorable tournament full of energy, skill, and sportsmanship.

Indoor Hockey UK is thrilled to announce that the 2025 Indoor Hockey UK Championships will be broadcast live for the first time, thanks to a new partnership with Sportway, a leading provider of AI-powered sports streaming solutions.

The collaboration will bring high-quality live coverage of every match across all four courts and all age groups ensuring fans, families, and clubs across the country can experience the excitement of our competition - no matter where they are.

Sportway will deploy its advanced automated production technology across the tournament venue, delivering a high-quality live stream. Matches will be available to watch live or on-demand showcasing the speed, talent, and intensity of indoor hockey to a wider audience than ever before.

Trojans Crowned Champions at Under 18 Boys South Central Area Sixes

The South Central area was alive with fast-paced indoor action today as Indoor Hockey UK hosted the Under 18 Boys South Central Area Sixes, delivering a thrilling day of high-scoring fixtures and standout individual performances. Across three matches, the competing clubs showcased impressive skill, resilience, and attacking flair—but it was Trojans who rose above the rest to claim the top spot and secure their place at the England Hockey U18 National Finals.

The day opened with an explosive encounter between Trojans and Marlow, setting the tempo for the competition. Trojans’ sharp finishing saw them pull ahead, but Marlow stayed in the contest with determined counterattacks. Despite the pressure, Trojans maintained control and closed out an entertaining 8–5 victory, giving them early momentum.

Marlow returned to the court in the second match, this time against Winchester.. The attacking rotations clicked into gear, and they capitalised to secure a 7–4 win. Winchester battled hard and produced spells of strong possession but ultimately couldn’t overturn Marlow’s lead.

The final fixture pitted Winchester against Trojans, with the latter knowing that a win would secure the overall title. Trojans wasted no time stamping their authority on the match. Swift breakaways and confident finishing turned pressure into goals. A dominant display saw Trojans claim a 10–2 victory, sealing their unbeaten run and confirming them as South Central Area Sixes champions.

While the boys’ competition delivered an exciting showcase, the Under 18 Girls South Central event unfortunately could not proceed as scheduled. With only one team - Reading U18 Girls - entered, the event was unable to run. As a result, Reading will progress automatically as the South Central representative to the England Hockey U18 National Finals, taking place on Sunday 25 January.

Both Trojans U18 Boys and Reading U18 Girls will now go forward to the National Finals, where they will compete against the country’s strongest indoor sides. After today’s performances and outcomes, the South Central Area will be well represented as the teams aim for national success.

South Central Joins Indoor Hockey UK

Indoor Hockey UK is delighted to announce a new partnership with South Central Hockey, which will see IHUK organise and deliver the South Central indoor hockey clubs programme effective immediately.

The collaboration marks an exciting step forward in strengthening and streamlining the delivery of indoor hockey. South Central Hockey becomes the second governing area in England to join IHUK, following in the footsteps of East Hockey.

Under the new structure, Indoor Hockey UK will take responsibility for administering fixtures, venues, results, and competition logistics for South Central’s club competitions. South Central Hockey will continue to work closely with IHUK to support participating clubs and promote the growth of the indoor game across the area. Clubs wishing to enter must be South Central Hockey Area teams and enter using the online system. Teams must be affiliated members to England Hockey and must have completed their 2025/26 indoor-season registration. Each club may register one Men’s side and one Women’s side. Entry invoices, fixture draws and team briefings will be sent to entered teams within 72 hours of the closing date.

As this is part of the England Hockey Indoor programme, these competitions will follow the England Hockey Super 6 Area regulations. These can be downloaded from the England Hockey website.

The East Area is set for an indoor action bonanza this December as the annual East Indoor Hockey Competitions make their return - featuring both the Men’s and Women’s events. The tournaments will bring together the areas top clubs in the fast-paced six-a-side indoor format and mark a key fixture in the winter hockey calendar.

New Format & Competition Structure

Each tournament will feature six teams, divided into two pools of three. Pool matches will run in the morning and early afternoon, followed by crossover games in the late afternoon. Each match will be played over four 10-minute quarters with 1 minute quarter time and 3 minutes half time. Standard indoor hockey rules apply!

2025 Championships Set for December Showdown

The highly anticipated 2025 Indoor Hockey UK Championships have officially been announced, with top clubs and elite players from across the United Kingdom set to converge at the David Ross Sports Village in Nottingham from 27 to 30 December.

Four action-packed days. The best indoor hockey teams in the UK. One incredible venue. It’s going to be fast, fierce, and full of festive energy as the top clubs from across the country battle it out for indoor glory.

Back at David Ross — And Bigger Than Ever!

If you’ve ever seen a match at Nottingham’s David Ross Sports Village, you know you’re in for a treat. With its world-class courts, roaring crowd, and electric vibes, it’s the perfect spot to end the year with a bang.

“The David Ross Sports Village offers the perfect stage for indoor hockey at the highest level,” said William Davey, Operations Director at Indoor Hockey UK. “After a fantastic reception in 2024, we’re excited to bring the Championships back to Nottingham and anticipate a fantastic display of elite performance.”

Clubs Going for Gold

The 2025 Championships will take place from Saturday 27 December until Tuesday 30 December 2025. As the Under 10's didn't prove popular last year, we have decided to not include them this year, but we will still have 10 age groups participating, with Under 12's, Under 14's, Under 16's, Under 18's and Adults all taking place, with an equal male and female split.

All age groups will follow the England Hockey Club age brackets (from 1 September) and will take place on the following days:

The warm up slot will be published before the event, and all teams should attend as this is the only time available for teams to warm up on the pitch.

New Format & Competition Structure

This year all age groups will play 2 x 10 minute halves with a 1 minute half time - that's right, including the Under 12's and Under 14's! That means teams will get more pitch time. Teams will be split into groups to start, and then go into playoffs and classification matches, brining the thrill and excitement of knock out events in the latter stages of the competition.

Entry Fees

This years entry fees will be set at £260 per team. This is a slight increase on previous years, but takes into account an increase in pitch time. We will also continue to offer free spectator entry for this event, so we hope this works out to be the cheapest way for everyone attending. You will be able to enter this year's event from 19:00 on Monday 8 September via enter.indoorhockey.uk!

As always, we will be on the lookout out for a brilliant team of umpires, match officials and other workforce members. Those already registered will be able to enter their availability, and any new members will be able to sign up via My Hockey UK at the same time. Due to the number of people that will be in attendance at the event and to ensure appropriate provisions are made for security and first aid, spectators will be required to get a ticket to enter the event. Registration to umpire, officiate or volunteer at the 2025 London Grand Slam is now OPEN!

There has been great interest in this event since the announcement, and with a high number of teams entered, we're on the lookout for a great team of people to help deliver the event.

Whether you've been to our events before or new to the indoor hockey scene, sign up and get involved. We're one of the only events in England where you can complete initial indoor hockey umpire training, and be assessed for Level 1 and Level 2 awards!

The World Returns to Nottingham: 2026 World Masters Hockey Indoor World Cup Set for March Showdown

The World’s best master’s indoor hockey players are coming back to the UK, as World Masters Hockey ( WMH ) proudly announces that Indoor Hockey UK (IHUK) will host the 2026 Masters Indoor Hockey World Cup, once again at the David Ross Sports Village, University of Nottingham from 26 March 2026 to 31 March 2026 !

After the roaring success of the 2024 edition, Nottingham will once again transform into the epicentre of international masters indoor hockey. The second-time host city is ready to raise the bar even higher with more teams, more action and even more unforgettable moments.

Confirming the hosts for this event, Ishbel Dickens, Chair of the WMH Events Committee, says “WMH is thrilled to be working with IHUK once again. We anticipate even more team entries in 2026. We have expanded the length of the Event and added Over 65 women’s and men’s teams. WMH looks forward to another highly organised and exciting Indoor World Cup. We hope to see you there.”

2025 London Grand Slam Information

Work is well underway for the launch of our brand new action packed London Grand Slam! This event will bring together teams from across the UK, showcasing fierce rivalries and providing a great opportunity for teams to prepare for the official national hockey season.

There has been great interest in this event since the announcement, and we're expecting demands on entries to be high, so make sure you don't miss out on the excitement and join us for our brand new grand slam in October!

Dates & Age Groups

The 2025 London Grand Slam will take place on Sunday 19 October, Saturday 25 October and Sunday 26 October. The second weekend, coincides with a scheduled half term break in the English outdoor programme - according to the England Hockey Centralised Calendar. Wherever possible, we have tried to make sure to avoid any clashes with the Centralised Calendar, by scheduling age groups on the most appropriate dates.

We will have 12 age groups participating, with Under 10's, Under 12's, Under 14's, Under 16's, Under 18's and Adults all taking place, with an equal male and female split.

All age groups will follow the England Hockey Club age brackets (from 1 September) and will take place on the following days:

The warm up slot will be published before the event, and all teams should attend as this is the only time available for teams to warm up on the pitch.

Venue

The K2 Arena, located in Crawley, is renowned for its versatile sports facilities. 10-minutes from London Gatwick Airport, the venue boasts three indoor hockey courts, ample free parking, an on-site café, and additional amenities such as a climbing wall, swimming pool, sauna, and steam room - providing a comprehensive experience for players and spectators alike. Having hosted the 2023 Indoor Hockey UK Championships, the feedback received after that event was so great we had to find a way to return to this spectacular and popular venue.

Entry Fees

This years entry fees will be set at £240 per team. We have tried to keep this years fee to a minimum, but as this is a new event and there may be some anomalies, we must ensure the event remains self funding at all times. We will be offering free spectator entry for this event, so we hope this works out to be the cheapest way for everyone attending. You will be able to enter this year's event from 19:00 on Monday 23 June via enter.indoorhockey.uk!

Spectator Tickets

Due to the number of people that will be in attendance at the event and to ensure appropriate provisions are made for security and first aid, spectators will be required to get a ticket to enter the event. Indoor Hockey UK Announces New London Grand Slam

Indoor Hockey UK is set to launch a new event in the indoor hockey calendar - the London Grand Slam - scheduled to take place at the K2 Arena in Crawley. This exciting addition aims to bring together teams from across the UK for 2 days of high-intensity competition

A New Chapter in Indoor Hockey

The London Grand Slam will feature a range of age groups, from Under 10 through to Under 18 categories, offering a platform for both emerging talent and seasoned players to showcase their skills. The event is expected to draw significant participation, giving the older age groups the opportunity to take part in a competitive tournament before England's Indoor Season officially begins. Dates for team entry have not yet been announced, but we will confirm details following the completion of the Derby Grand Slam taking place from 24 - 26 May 2025. This new chapter does not impact any of Indoor Hockey UK's other events, with both the Championships and Derby Grand Slam continuing in their established December and May calendar months, respectively, both confirmed for 2025 and 2026!

As always we're on the look out for great people to join our event team. Whether you've been to our events before or new to the indoor hockey scene, sign up and get involved. We're one of the only events in England where you can complete initial indoor hockey umpire training, and be assessed for Level 1 and Level 2 awards!

Dates & Age Groups

The 2025 Derby Grand Slam will take place from Saturday 24 May 2025 to Monday 26 May 2025. With the dates coinciding with the May Bank Holiday and half term for many, there's plenty of opportunity to make a weekend of it and come for the hockey as well as experience other things on offer in and around Derby.
This year the Under 18 Age Group has been dropped from the schedules, as previous years have shown, this event isn't popular with them due to exam season. The other age groups offered at Indoor Hockey UK events, including the Under 10's, will all be able to return to Derby, with most age groups having capacity for more teams then before. We have also allocated more pitch time for all teams, compared to last year, but this is also dependant on the number of entries received.

All timings are subject to change depending on the number of entries received but we will always look to try and fit the competitions within the published times above.

The Derby Grand Slam will once again be held at the Derby Arena, Pride Park , Royal Way, DE 24 8JB . This unique venue, which has become a home of indoor hockey, always proves a popular location for our event, and we're delighted to be back.

Entry Fees

This years entry fees will be set at £250 per team, which is including VAT. We have tried to keep this years fee to a minimum, but at the same time, we must also ensure the event remains self funding at all times. This is a slight increase on the price from last year, but with an extra game for teams and the offer of free spectator entry it will hopefully work out cheaper for those attending. You will be able to enter this year's event from 19:00 on Sunday 2 February 2025 via enter.indoorhockey.uk!

Once again, we will be on the lookout out for our brilliant umpires, match officials and other workforce members. Indoor Hockey UK's Championships return for another year and they're bigger than ever! With a new venue, additional pitch and space for 24 more teams we're excited our 20th Year of organising this event will be more special than ever.

Indoor Hockey UK's Derby Grand Slam is back for another year, once again returning to the wonderful Derby Arena, Pride Park. This year, the event is moving to the end of May aligning with the Spring Bank Holiday in the UK, and also kicking off half term for many! More information about the event can be found below but remember to add to your calendars 19:00 on 1st February 2023 as team entry for the event will open , and we once again anticipate high take up from teams across all age groups.

The 2024 Championships will take place from Saturday 25 May 2024- Monday 27 May 2024. The move to the end of May aligns the event with the Spring Bank Holiday weekend, and the start of half term for many.

After having to be dropped from the event schedule last year, we're delighted to confirm that the Under 10's will be returning to the competition, meaning over 150 teams in 12 age groups will have the opportunity to take part in the biggest indoor hockey event we've ever hosted! Venue

This year we're heading to a new venue! We're delighted that K2 Arena, Crawley will host the 2023 Indoor Hockey UK Championships. Whilst we appreciate the Copper Box Arena is a spectacular and iconic venue the cost to host the event in the Stratford Area just proved too much this year. By moving to K2 Crawley not only are we able to freeze the entry fee at the same price as last year but we're also able to offer free parking to everyone attending the event, continue to offer free spectator entry into the event and not we're also outside the ULEZ charging area .
K2 Arena, Crawley allows us to continue to host the event across 3 indoor hockey pitches, whilst providing the option for extra entertainment, such as reaching the top of the climbing wall, heading for a dip in the pool, or relaxing in the sauna or steam room. Extra entertainment activities will incur an additional cost, payable direct to the venue. Not only that, but you can also grab a bite to eat or drink from the on site café and relax in the upstairs lounge area. Our new venue offers you more than just watching hockey.

Entry Fees

Unlike most things recently, we haven't increased this years entry fee - this is mainly in part due to moving locations. Therefore, this year's entry fee will be the same as in 2022 at £250 per team , and you will be able to enter from 19:00 on 22 September 2023.
Not only is the entry fee frozen at last years pricing, but those attending will be able to enjoy free parking on site at the venue, and spectators can continue to enter the event for free .

Schedules

The event schedules will be uploaded onto the website by Friday 1 December 2023.
As introduced in 2020, all games will consist of 10 minutes, either one way or two halves depending on the age group. This is to allow everyone to prepare for playing in 10-minute segments, mimicking playing in quarters of the official game. Teams will get the same amount of hockey they received at previous Championship events.

2023 East Area Series Information

The East Area Series returns this season on the 9th & 10th December at UEA SportsPark

This year's event will see 8 men's and 8 women's teams compete for the East Indoor Cup and East Indoor Trophy taking place across one weekend of spectacular indoor hockey. The winning team of the East Indoor Cup shall be nominated as the East Team to join England Hockey's National Indoor League! The East Cup & Trophy is aimed at clubs that are experienced in playing indoor hockey and are wanting the opportunity to play in the Indoor National League

Dates and Venue

The 2023 edition of the East Area Series will take place from Saturday 9th December until Sunday 10th December at UEA SportsPark, Norwich. Teams will participate across the 2 courts available, and all teams will need to attend BOTH days of the event. Overnight accommodation can be arranged through our new accommodation partner Esselle Sports. Please contact hotels@indoorhockey.uk if you'd be interested in working with them to find a hotel suitable for your team

Format & Schedules

Teams will play 5 full length games across the 2 days, as per the FIH Rules Book - 4 quarters of 10 minutes . The full schedules will be uploaded to the Indoor Hockey UK website approximately 1 month before the event starts.
There will be 3 rounds to each Men's and Women's Competition:
Round 1 - Groups The 8 teams will be drawn into 2 pools of 4, with each team playing each other in their pool once. The draws will take place before the event, and will be based on a number of factors, including where teams finished last season, how much indoor hockey they've played, as well as how they do outdoors, to ensure a similar standard across both pools. Each team will get 3 games in this round.
Round 2 - Playoffs The top 2 teams from each group will go into the Cup playoffs with the bottom 2 teams from each pool going into the Trophy Playoffs.
Round 3 - Classifications The Winners and Losers of each respective playoff will battle it out in one final game to determine their final positions for the weekend. The winner of the Cup Final not only gets to walk away with the East Cup, but also a nomination to England Hockey's National League - the Super 6's.

Entry Fees

Unfortunately, as with most things recently, we have had to increase this years entry fee for the event to ensure we cover all venue hire and official costs. This year's entry fee will be £400 per team, and team entry is now available by clicking the button below:

Officials & Volunteers

Once again, the umpires and officials for the event will be appointed to by East Hockey Officiating. To be appointed, you'll need to be a member (either primary or secondary) of the area, and enter your availability on GMS. The East Officiating Committee, will then look to appoint approximately 1 month before the event. The Grand Slam also sees the return of competition for the Under 10's after we unfortunately had to drop this age group at our 2022 Championships. All age groups will follow the England Hockey Club age brackets (from 1 September) and will take place on the following days:

Please note, timings are subject to change, depending on number of team entries received. Team sign in opens 90 minutes before the games start time stated for each age group and a team representative, ideally the manger or coach, must ensure they have signed in with the event registration table at least 20 minutes before games start. The order of play (match schedule) and group draws will be published approximately one month prior to the event.

Venue

Our Derby Grand Slam will once again be held at the Derby Arena, Pride Park, Royal Way, DE 24 8JB . This unique venue, with the cycle track above the pitches, always proves a popular location for our event, and we're delighted to be back.

Entry Fees

Like all our events, the 2023 Derby Grand Slam must be self funding, and this is taken into account when coming up with the entry fee. We have tried to keep this years fee to a minimum but unfortunately, we have had to introduce a 5% fee increase this year.
This year's entry fee will be £210 per team , and you will be able to enter from 19:00 on 1 February 2023 .

Schedules

The event schedules will be uploaded onto the website approximately one month before the event starts.
As introduced in 2020, all games will consist of 10 minutes, either one way or two halves depending on the age group. This is to allow everyone to prepare for playing in 10-minute segments, mimicking playing in quarters of the official game.
After mainly positive feedback from participants after our Championships, we will be having two age groups playing at the same. Not only does this help increase the atmosphere within the arena, but it allows us to minimise the number of teams that have to play back-to-back matches. Playing two competitions together also means we can reduce the amount of time needed for warm up and opening and presentation ceremonies, maximising available pitch times for matches.

Officials & Volunteers

Once again, we will be on the lookout out for our brilliant umpires, match officials and other workforce members. Those already registered will be able to enter their availability from March, and any new members will be able to sign up via My Hockey UK at the same time. 2022 Championships Information

IT'S BACK!

Our biggest indoor hockey event is returning from 27 - 29 December 2022. This year's Championships will once again be held at the Copper Box Arena, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park - one of the final events taking place at the park 10-years after the London 2012 Olympics. More information about the event can be found below but remember to add to your calendars 19:00 on 12th September 2022 as team entry for the event will open, and we once again anticipate high take up from teams across all age groups.

Dates & Age Groups

The 2022 Championships will take place from 27 December to the 29 December 2022. Unfortunately, due to a long-standing booking with another organisation and broadcaster at the venue, we were unable to secure 4 days for this year's event. Of course, by losing a day it does mean that we have had to reduce the number of teams able to take part in each age group, and unfortunately, we have had to drop the Under 10's Boys and Girls from the competition programme. This was not a decision which #indoorhockeyUK took lightly, but has been necessary to ensure we can have enough teams in the rest of the event to make it cost effective. We are exploring the possibility of hosting Under 10's elsewhere and this will be communicated if another venue is secured. All age groups will follow the England Hockey Club age brackets (from 1 September) and will take place on the following days:

Venue

Our 2022 Championships will once again be held at the Copper Box Arena, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London. 2022 is a very special year for the Olympic Park, as it celebrates 10 years since the spotlight shone on London for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
As well as our event at the Copper Box, there will be other activities going on throughout and around the park including the 10 Years On Olympic & Paralympic Exhibition at the Lee Valley VeloPark, where you can take a selfie with the much-loved London 2012 Mascot, Wenlock, re-live the glory of Team GB and Paralympics GB triumphs, see medals, the Olympic and Paralympic torches, and part of the Olympic cauldron. Entry Fees

Unfortunately, like most things recently, we have had to increase the entry fees into this year's event. This is the first price increase for the Championships since 2017 and has been necessary due to increase in the costs which we incur in all our bills. #indoorhockeyUK is committed to remaining a not-for-profit organisation with all the income raised going into delivering the event.
This year's entry fee will be £250 per team, and you will be able to enter from 19:00 on 12 September 2022. Please note the entry fee has increased slightly since the original publication of the article to include a small fee which enables spectators to continue to have free entry to the venue. This is the most cost-effective way for everyone to attend the event.

2022 East Indoor Series

Following the new partnership in 2021 #indoorhockeyUK and East Hockey Ltd are delighted to continue working together to grow indoor hockey in the area for the 2022 indoor season. Due to the Covid restrictions last year, we ran scaled back events but we hope, and anticipate, with things back to some normality this year will see a full programme for the East Indoor Series.
This year also see change to the way the competitions are delivered. The Premier Division is changing to the East Cup & East Trophy Competition, with Division 1 becoming the East Plate Competition. We're also excited to be adding into the mix a Masters Cup competition for various age groups. More details on each competition is available below!

East Cup & Trophy

The former Premier Division Weekend will now see 8 men's and 8 women's teams compete for the East Indoor Cup and East Indoor Trophy. Similar to the former Premier Division the event will take place over the course of a weekend, with the winner of the East Indoor Cup being the team that shall be nominated as the East Team to join England Hockey's National Indoor League! The East Cup & Trophy is aimed at clubs that are experienced in playing indoor hockey and are wanting the opportunity to play in the Indoor National League.
Eligible Teams: East Area Teams (Men & Women) Competition Dates: Saturday 10 December 2022 - Sunday 11 December 2022 Venue: UEA SportsPark (Norwich) Length of Match: 40 minutes (10 minute quarters)* Number of Games: 5 Games per team Cost to Enter: £360 per team
Round 1 - Pool Draws The 8 teams will be drawn into 2 pools of 4, with each team playing each other in their pool once. The draws will take place before the event, and will be based on a number of factors, including where teams finished last season, to ensure a similar standard across both pools. Each team will get 3 games in this round.
Round 2 - Playoffs The top 2 teams from each pool will go to the Cup Playoffs with the bottom 2 teams from each pool going to the Trophy Playoffs.
Round 3 - Classification The winners and losers of each respective playoff will battle it out in 1 last game to determine their final positions for the weekend. The winner of the Cup Final not only gets to walk away with the Cup, but also a nomination to England Hockey's National Indoor League - the Super 6's. *Please note, where possible we want this competition to mirror that of the National Indoor League, therefore the length of games may change to match that of the higher competition, and to allow the East teams the best preparation possible.

East Plate

The Plate competition will allow up to 7 Men's and 7 Women's teams take part in a Round Robin competition. Each team will play each other throughout the day, with the team collecting the most points being declared the winners. The team that finishes first in both the Men's and Women's event will be invited to take part in the Premier Weekend the following season. The plate Competition is designed for those teams that may not have had much opportunity to play indoor and want to increase their exposure to indoor hockey.

Masters Cup

New to the East Area Series is the Masters Cup! Looking to launch in 2022, we're hoping to have targeted age group competitions giving Masters players more opportunity to take part. In order to assess the viability of the competition, we are asking Masters age players who would be interested in playing to please get in touch via the form. #indoorhockeyUK, in conjunction with East Masters, will then create teams based on Counties within the area. We'd also be interested in anybody that thinks they have enough people and could enter a full team.
This is in early stages of planning, and by expressing your interest at this stage will really help us come up with the best tournament possible. By signing up now, you will be kept up to date with the progress of the competition.

Sportivo Becomes Official Technology Partner

#indoorhockeyUK are delighted to announce Sportivo as our brand new Technology Partner - revolutionising the way you experience indoor hockey in the UK!

Sportivo provides an online connected app allowing you to experience tournaments like you've never experienced before. As well as providing a tournament builder, allowing for easy administration of events, Sportivo also allows for video analysis and team management - all in one easy to use place.

Not only will Sportivo embedded into our website to show results and fixtures for events, as we've done previously, but you will also be able to download their app to follow your favourite teams and competitions with live updates on your mobile device! Information on how to do this will be released shortly, and made available upon arrival to our events.

Sportivo is being rolled out and will be used for the fixtures and results at both East Indoor and the 2021 Championships. Other features, such as video analysis and team management, may not be fully utilised this time round, as we transition to this new platform.

We appreciate there may be concerns about switching to a new fixtures and results system so close to an event but Sportivo has been tested rigorously and our administrators trained, so we believe it is ready to be used with #indoorhockeyUK, and we did not want to delay the revolution. However, to ensure there is no disruption to fan or team experiences, we will continue to run our old system behind the scenes, with the ability to switch if anything does go wrong.
